EVANGELISM NEWS FROM AROUND THE ERC

We want to note several highlights from the ministry of evangelism around the Eastern Regional Conference.

We are slowly building our community for the on-line missionaries of Global Media Outreach. Maria Nauman and Chris Shambaugh from Landisville are the most recent enlistees.  Josh Glacken from GMO will be meeting this Sunday with 15 persons from Shippensburg, along with their pastor, Paul Tatum to explore starting a “community” at that church.

Our first Bridgebuilders Seminar was held last Saturday at Bare Memorial in Roaring Spring (Mark Halliday is pastor.) Attendance was small, in part because of six last minute cancellations/no shows; but persons from Woodbury, Bare Memorial, and Harrisburg First received this training.  The next  Bridgebuilders is scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Elizabethtown.

Our new website is up and running thanks to Lisa Thurston, Dan Masshardt and Tammie Gitt. Go to www.ercevangelism.org and check it out.

Our next two Evangelism Breakfasts are scheduled for November 1, 2010 for Harrisburg Northeast. Steve Dunn, Dan Masshardt and Micah Brickner will be on hand. This breakfast is at Perkins .on Jonestown Road and starts at 9:00 am.  The next is scheduled for the West Shore District on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at John’s Diner near the Harrisburg West Shore Expert (formerly Eat and Park). Dan, Steve and Micah will be there, as well. 8:00 am is the time/ Remember, bring a friend, a lay leader. Breakfast is on the commission.

Our final School of Evangelism offering for 2010 is on apologetics, “Explaining the Faith.”  Bill Sloat will be the instructor. The class will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 8:30 am-3:3o pm at the conference office in Harrisburg, Cost is $25.  Register now so we can send advance materials. You can register by calling Barb Harris at 717-652-0255 or Patty Baker at Steve’s office at 717-898-8144 or you can email through “contact us”on the website. Registration deadline is November 9th. We have three students so far.

We are preparing to help Swatara (Mike Nelson and Jack Selcher) with a major Sunday morning evangelism emphasis in January 2011.

The Commission meets next on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Conference Office.
